Buying Used and Refurbished
You do not need to buy new items all the time. You can find great deals on used items or better yet, refurbished, or open box products. They are cheaper than their brand-new counterparts and are well worth the money. You need to be smart in deciding which items to buy out the box, or used to get the best bang for your buck.

Electronics
We have all bought something new and had second thoughts about it before taking it back to the store. On more expensive items like electronics, sometimes our spouse has encouraged us to make the return. The store can not sell that product as new, and so they will have to sell it discounted. This at times can be a great opportunity for some customers.
Classic video games
If you missed playing those old video games, you could play them again if you decide to purchase the classic versions. Not all of them are cheaper than the new ones though. As the old-time games are now collectors’ items, you can expect them to be more expensive. If you are a fanatic and possibly a collector yourself, you will not mind paying the higher price.
Mobile phones
Phones depreciate quickly. Open the box, start using the phone, and it is already not as valuable as it was when it was inside the box. Therefore, you can consider buying a refurbished or open box phone for your kids, provided that it is a recent model. You can check the hardware and software to determine if it is still worth buying. If it is a new model that the owner used only for a couple of weeks or months, you will not mind paying for it. You also need to ask about the reason behind the decision to sell it. A desire to upgrade to a new model is an acceptable reason.
DSLR cameras
You might be surprised by the number of people who decide to purchase a professional camera when they have no idea how to use it. They eventually feel that it is too inconvenient for them and decide to sell it. You are lucky if you are into cameras and you are looking for a cheap DSLR camera. People are willing to sell their cameras at a low price since they are not using them anyway.
Cars
You can always find used cars that are still in perfect condition. As long as you check the report and take the car out for a test drive, it is safe to buy. The good thing about cars is they depreciate quickly. Therefore, even a one-year-old car that is now back on the market will be half the price of a brand-new version. Again, it helps if you know why the owner decided to sell the car before you purchase it.
With a growing family, you need to be smart with your purchases. Avoid buying brand-new items all the time can keep your budget available for great family vacations or entertainment!
